You can find an old historical centre in Le Blanc and St. Gaultier, cities next to the Creuse, and the beautiful village St. Benoit du Sault in La Petite Brenne. You will see the old architecture in the farmhouses and villages where it seems time stood still.

Archaeological excavations of the Roman city Argentomagus. The castles of Le Blanc, Azay-le-Ferron or Chateauguillaume are the absolute must-sees. The abbey of Fontgomboult, the just renovated frescos in the church of St. Savin (world heritage). In the summer there are a lot of music festivals, village festivals, markets, brocantes (flea market) and animal markets.
You can also visit the property where George Sand (famous French writer) has been living. In the summer there are several concerts and theatre plays to go to, and daily guided tours.
